Enjoy your celebration of the New Year

Personally, I’m looking forward to seeing change.

It’s very a very difficult year.

So to Health, Happiness, Love,  Prosperity.

It’s UP and Running

Hopefully … after a long trial and error, I might get it yet.

My Art Corner

Hope you’ll help me out and see if you like it!

Thanks!

Welcome June 2023

Hand-Painted Glass

Did you know that not so long ago, I painted glass!?

Had to stop for awhile and still have some pieces in storage but most

that I Painted, were sold at Art Shows and by simply sharing my ‘art’

Until I get this part started again, hopefully during the summer here’s a few (and not the best clarity in focus …. but hopefully) they will let you see and hopefully have an interest in a comeback of my

Hand-Painted – Signed Art Glass! – ((Kolours))

Did You KNOW ?

I’ve finally created the site for my creative, fractal, digital… ART!

My Art Corner

I’d be delighted to have you come for a visit and of course offer any suggestions for improvement! I look forward to sharing what I create in my ‘spare time’!

For Daddy

Today . the 26th of April . my daddy would be 98 years old. But we remember instead with thoughts, love and laughter.

This POEM, is such a true representation of a small part of who he was and how we loved him. Mother and I miss him everyday.

DADDYS PLAYGROUND

An old green colored shed tops a makeshift work area
That once was a housing unit for my brothers’ cage of birds
Snakes and such.
Now it is filled with various sized bolts;
Some of which even the same size maybe totally different
For the need…
The aged fingers reach for yet another.
The area is covered with wheels, handles and motors.
The smell of gas and oil is sometimes nauseating.
But from sun-up to sun-down…with a few short breaks in-between
We can always find
Daddy
Tinkering with lawnmowers…edger’s
Sharpening blades
Unclogging fuel lines
Replacing wheels
All of which have yet a few good blades to cut
The fingers work tediously long hours
While sitting on a stool –
Comprised of an old bucket with a board on top
Finished product…
A labor of love and frustration thrown in
Here and there
They’re wheeled out to the road, curb side
With a sign – for sale –
And the waiting begins.
But the ages fingers reach for yet another to conquer
With his loyal companion at his feet,
His dog sable
Daddy begins the task that will yet continue
To fulfill his hours under the old green colored
Shed searching fingers reaching to find the
Right tools and bolts to
Sharpen blades
Unclog fuel lines
Replace wheels
Sitting on the short stool …. The bucket and board.
Until the setting sun brings a dinner call from Mother
We know where we can find daddy
In his playground
With wheels and blades of steel.

This represents, Daddy, Mother and myself… the three of us. When daddy left. We miss Daddy Everyday.

CONFUSED

If, you’re checking in on me, or watching what I might post… I certainly would appreciate some feed-back on my progress that has got me so confused about the layout!

WHAT, you might say … WHAT Am I talking about? That’s my problem!

My Poetry that I’m going to post … Heart Strings (in the works)

And My Art Corner. This is the one that I’m having difficulty with.

Making sure the pages and what will be, flow smoothly, but with so much going on in my life I find myself, confused about what should be instead of letting it flow with ease I guess!

I don’t even see right now the cats & tags!

I know its’s early or late .. me, I do need to get to bed! STAT . So If you’re inclined to take a peek, I certainly would appreciate your feedback!

Please Help I Need Your Opinion

If it’s not too much to ask, I’d really like an honest opinion.

About Web Sights

Yes I know I’m here on WordPress .. but what other might you use for other venues?

Blogger? GoDaddy? I’m not even sure of what all is out here. Or do you put all your eggs into one basket … here (or elsewhere).

I’m torn, because of cost, but I have so many poems that I’d really like to showcase, as there is a book with a title in the library of congress with Copyright… but I’ll probably never get it fully proofed as it should, so one or two at a time will work.

Creative ART & my Hand-Painted glass. Yes, I guess I’ve had my hands in a few things throughout the years with so many interruptions… I just need to try and focus on one or two and show what I’m capable of!

That’s why my question.

And with WordPress… It’s a pain sometimes, trying as now to compose and it keeps moving words into other parts as it pleases! I also like the poetry to be displayed as I wrote them.. NOT everything is up and down left to right ..and I want it to be shown as I wrote them and intended for them to be. AND different fonts are always a way of expression with me.

I do hope that someone will read, understand this and help me out. My time is precious as I’m a caregiver of my Mother who will be 95 in April. So my time, is when I can I want to grab an easy place to Hang My Hat!

Thank You for your time.

Decisions

Having a difficult time trying to figure out and design another ‘site’ for my art creations and my ‘stuff’.

Apophysis, Digital, Fractal art designs that are incredibly fun and fascinating. Along with a few other applications derived from the same premise. design with fractals… Some I’ve tried and way beyond my mind with so many other things that arose, my mind was not into it… but a couple are indeed worth trying.

And NOW, there has come the AI creations, that Ifind so intriguing and unique, but sometimes my mind goes into dump mode and there’s nothing there with the visual that so many have. BUT I have created some that I’m thrilled with.

So WHERE do I go and what do I do? STAY here or go to another(s) sight?

My Poetry, I also have listed at BLOGGER, one of the book parts that I’ve sat on for many years. I Really Need to start showcasing them again!

AND least but not forgotten, is the hand painted glass that I cannot do at the moment, but I would like to share what I created and the pieces I still have within my arsenal!

HELP!.. Now there are three parts to my book of poetry, and think best to separate out.

The designs of fractal creations … so many sections!

My glass .just one sight will do!

Helpful suggestion are so welcome!

Peek Your Interest

Going to get back to things from the past!

Hopefully, anyway. Creating & Sharing with you what I can and when I can.

More Later, but hope this will wet your appetite.

This is created with the program #Apophysis … It might be an old one, but the dimensions are spot on and I think clear.

Milwaukee Goodwill

artwork bought

Associated Press/Morry Gash – In this Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2012 photo, Karen
Mallet stands in front of her Alexander Calder print in her Shorewood, Wis.,
home. Mallet bought the print for $12.34 at a Goodwill …more thrift store in Milwaukee. It
turned out to be a lithograph by the American artist Alexander Calder worth
$9,000. (AP Photo/Morry Gash)

 **********

MILWAUKEE (AP) — “Red Nose” just meant a reindeer named Rudolph to Karen Mallet until she bought a print by that name for $12.34 at a Goodwill store in Milwaukee. It turned out to be a lithograph by American artist Alexander Calder worth $9,000.

Mallet’s good fortune is at least the fourth time in six months that valuable art has turned up at Goodwill, where bargain-hunters search for hidden treasure among the coffee cups, jewelry, lamps and other household cast-offs.

Last month, a Salvador Dali sketch found at a Goodwill shop in Tacoma, Wash., sold for $21,000. Last summer, a North Carolina woman pocketed more than $27,000 for a painting she bought for $9.99 at Goodwill. And last spring, a dusty jug donated in Buffalo, N.Y., was discovered to be a thousands-of-years-old American Indian artifact — it was returned to its tribe instead of being offered for sale.

When told of the Milwaukee woman’s find, a Goodwill spokeswoman said workers at its 2,700 stores try to spot valuables and auction them on the organization’s online auction site to net more money for the charitable group. But things slip through the cracks and the workers aren’t art experts.

“That’s kind of part of shopping at Goodwill — the thrill of the hunt,” said Cheryl Lightholder, communications manager for Goodwill in southeastern Wisconsin. “You never know what you’re going to find.”

Mallet, a media relations specialist for Georgetown University and others, didn’t even like “Red Nose” when she first spotted it during one of her frequent Goodwill shopping trips in May.

“The big find that day was this great set of steel knives, in a block, for $18.99” by Wolfgang Puck, she said.

But the graphic black-and-white picture was striking. In low-browed terms, it might be described as an abstract image of an ape with a hangover, with spiral swirls for eyes like the ones in cartoons when someone gets punched. A large red nose is the only color.

Then she saw the Calder signature.

“I thought, I don’t know if it’s real or not but it’s $12.99. I’ve wasted more on worse things,” she said. A discount for using her Goodwill loyalty card brought the price down to $12.34.

Once home, she searched the Internet and found similar lithographs by Calder, who died in 1976 and is widely known for his mobiles and abstract sculptures at airports, office towers and other public places. Mallet’s piece was No. 55 of 75 lithographs and was made in 1969.

Jacob Fine Art Inc., in suburban Chicago, recently set its replacement value at $9,000.

“This happens very frequently — you can’t imagine,” the company’s owner, Jane Jacob, said of treasures found at thrift stores. “They don’t know what they have. They’re just not set up to understand art history.”

Lauren Lawson-Zilai, a spokeswoman for Goodwill Industries International Inc. in Rockville, Md., gave these examples of art that Goodwill staff spotted and sold through the auction site:

— In 2009, a painting by Utah artist Maynard Dixon donated in Santa Rosa, Calif., sold for $70,001.

— In 2008, a Baltimore-area Goodwill store netted $40,600 from a Parisian street scene painted by Impressionist Edouard-Leon Cortes.

— In 2006, a Frank Weston Benson oil painting donated anonymously in Portland, Ore., brought in $165,002 — Goodwill’s top haul so far.

Mallet has no immediate plans to sell her “Red Nose.”

“It grew on me,” she said. “Now I love it.”

Never have I been talked to so rudely. Because
I was taking pictures !!! Of things I was interested in along with tag that
shows $ & sometimes maker & size … was told they were uncomfortable
with me taking pics of PRICE!  Told him that I always did with any other shop /
consignment I went to. (my memory is bad ) especially when one is looking for
several pieces & to see pics when get home one can visualize if it will work
. RIGHT!  I TOLD him that I always did …he then said it was a first time for
everything. & it was HIS store & wanted me out … did mot want me to
continue looking …. wanted ~ pointing his finger ~ to get out!
I asked
please for a restroom … he said there was none (i knew there was) asked again
~again he said No!’ Get out.  (Before I forget .. see I told you my memory was
bad .. also told Jim I had taken many pics there before & showed him.a pic I
had_) ..so now back to the bathroom…. I asked PLEASE SIR …I’ve just S#^% in
my pants.  I have cancer, & sometimes this happens … especially over the
last few MONTHS that my cancer is back. So I left the store telling him &
showing him there were two pictures I wanted … said no ….so you BET his
loss.  I had to make the drive back home without making any other stops
necessary.  That was a Very Long 30 minute drive to get back home.
Go there
NO WAY!
Before I had & would have recommended ~ but after that MaN did
that to me NeVeR will again.

What a Make-Over

I’m seldom impressed with progams that enhance way beyond the normal – because Understanding them, I do not.  But for those who do, creations are amazing as to what and how they do what they do.  The creative art of imagination and smoothing skin, reducing the size of ones waist, or the other end to become outrageous.  Some of those programs involved are Photoshop – which I do not understand but admire.

So when I came across something while visiting a site that was brought to my attention awhile back,  Give Away Of The Day, which I visit every once in awhile and saw something that sounded ‘interesting’ on Wednesday – (Yesterday) December 14, 2011 – downloaded it and gave it a try.

Love the program.  When one is down and out and feeling bad – looks bad … this is a lift that boost the inner feeling in me.  Battling cancer – (amongst other things) .. This was of curosity …. and did not make me feel as old (and older some days) than I am … it made me feel and look better.  And it can even show what shades may look better on me. Who knew!

While the ‘giveawayoftheday’ for this item is over – you just might find something equally as exciting for you there.

(and the price to purchase seems ok)

Again I’m only pasing it along to share the works of an artist!

Stolen ART ? WHY

I’ve had an account with DeviantART for about four years and this has just come to my attention once again about someone thinking it is OK to STEAL ART from ones page and place it on another site without any regard to acknowledge the ownership of the original artist who took the time to create works that are appreciated … let alone ever ASK if it could be placed and SHOWCASED!

This is the site — http://roseric.centerblog.net/rub-fractals-.html — and the artists at Deviantart have verified that some of their own works are there – but have no way to get the attention and credit them with ‘stolen’ goods …. in a language that they do not understand…as I understand what the artists at dA have said.

it to my contacts – I’m posting for all who can to read & see

This has been around before; but, it’s so touching I just had to send it around again.      Anne

Subject:  DO NOT DELETE, RETURN IF YOU CAN’T FORWARD!!!!
——————————————————————————–

This is a true story and it will give you the chills.

This is a beautiful and touching story of love and perseverance. Well
worth the read.

At the prodding of my friends I am writing this story. My name is Mildred Honor and I am a former elementary school music teacher from DesMoines, Iowa .

I have always supplemented my income by teaching piano lessons – something I have done for over 30 years.

During those years I found that children have many levels of musicalability, and even though I have never had the pleasure of having a prodigy, I have taught some very talented students.

However, I have also had my share of what I call ‘musically challenged’
pupils – one such pupil being Robby.

Robby was 11 years old when his mother (a single mom) dropped him off for his first piano lesson. I prefer that students (especially boys) begin at an earlier age, which I explained to Robby. But Robby said that it had always been his mother’s  dream to hear him play the piano, so I took him as a student.

Well, Robby began his piano lessons and from the beginning I thought itwas a hopeless endeavor. As much as Robby tried, he lacked the sense of tone and basic rhythm needed to excel.  But he dutifully reviewed his scales and some elementary piano pieces that I require all my students
to learn.  Over the months he tried and tried while I listened and cringed and tried to encourage him.
At the end of each weekly lesson he would always say ‘My mom’s going to hear me play someday’.  But to me, it seemed hopeless, he just did not have any inborn  ability.

I only knew his mother from a distance as she dropped Robby off or waited in her aged car to pick him up. She always waved and smiled, but never dropped in.

Then one day Robby stopped coming for his
lessons. I thought about calling him, but assumed that because of his lack of ability he had decided to pursue something else. I was also glad that he had stopped coming – he was a bad advertisement for my teaching!

Several weeks later I mailed a flyer recital to the students’ homes. To my surprise, Robby (who had received a flyer) asked me if he could be in the recital. I told him that the recital was for current pupils and that because he had dropped out, he really did not qualify.

He told me that his mother had been sick and unable to take him to his piano lessons, but that he had been practicing. ‘Please Miss Honor, I’ve just got to play’ he insisted. I don’t know what led me to allow him to play in the recital – perhaps it was his insistence or maybe something inside of me saying that it would be all right.

The night of the recital came and the high school  gymnasium was packed with parents, relatives and friends. I put Robby last in the program, just before I was to come up and thank all the students and play a finishing piece. I thought that any damage he might do would come at the end of the program and I could always salvage his poor performance through my ‘curtain closer’.

Well, the recital went off without a hitch, the students had been practicing and it showed. Then Robby came up on the stage. His clothes were wrinkled and his hair looked as though he had run an egg beaterthrough it.  ‘Why wasn’t he dressed up like the other students?’  I thought. ‘Why didn’t his mother at least make him comb his hair for this special night?’
Robby pulled out the piano bench, and I was surprised when he announced that he had chosen to play Mozart’s Concerto No. 21 in C Major. I was not prepared for what I heard next. His fingers were light on the keys, they even danced nimbly on the ivories. He went from pianissimo to fortissimo, from allegro to virtuoso; his suspended chords that Mozart demands were magnificent!

Never had I heard Mozart played so well by anyone his age.

After six and a half minutes he ended in a grand crescendo, and everyone was on their feet in wild applause!  Overcome and in tears, I ran up onstage and put my arms around Robby in joy.  ‘I have never heard you playlike that Robby, how did you do it?
‘  Through the microphone Robbyexplained: ‘Well, Miss Honor …. remember I told you that my mom was sick? Well, she actually had cancer and passed away this morning. And well …… she was born deaf, so tonight was the first time she had ever heard me play, and I wanted to make it special.’

There wasn’t a dry eye in the house that evening. As the people from Social Services led Robby from the stage to be placed into foster care, I noticed that even their eyes were red and puffy. I thought to myself then how much richer my life had been for taking Robby as my pupil.

No, I have never had a prodigy, but that night I became a prodigy ……. of Robby.  He was the teacher and I was the pupil, for he had taught me the meaning of perseverance and love and believing in yourself, and maybe
even taking a chance on someone and you didn’t know why.

Robby was killed years later in the senseless bombing of the Alfred P.Murray Federal Building in Oklahoma City in April, 1995.

And now, a footnote to the story. If you are thinking about forwarding this message, you are probably wondering which people on your address list aren’t the ‘appropriate’ ones to receive this type of message.  The person who sent  this to you believes that we can all make a difference!
So many seemingly trivial interactions between two people present us with a choice. Do we act with compassion or do we pass up that opportunity and leave the world a bit colder in the process?

Work of art singing bird pistols – Very Rare

This is a short video on a pair of 200+ year-old mechanical singing bird pistols; whether or not you are an antique gun aficionado, you’ll be glad you took a moment to watch. They are like great paintings. .. .. only on a much grander scale.
A little pair of trinkets from times gone bye.

new THEME?

JUST came across the ‘new’ theme which we are to be notified via e-mail which I was not- but any way it is way ugly — in my opinion!

Someone really needs to look at what the writers are trying to do with their blogs who they are trying to reach and make it all pleasing to the writer (TO WRITE) and the reader!  And make something that is pleasing to all — some of these ‘themes’ are so old they need to be retired!!!!!!!!!!

These ARE PRETTY-but can we use them?

NEW blood is needed – with WordPress – Not just for the WordPress.org! … If it were not for the WordPress.com – how would WordPress.org be doing? (just a question – don’t read anything into this!)  But I would like to know when you announce something that is WordPress do you not make it VERY clear that it is for WordPress.ORG ONLY???

If creative people have gone to the troubleto create a very unique FREE Theme for WordPress why do we have to UPGRADE in order to use those that some wonderful artists have taken a lot of time to create!?  ONLY if we upgrade canwe use what is FREE?!  Is that my correct understanding!?

When you make an announcement for WordPress – make it clear WHICH ONE!

Now I’ve had my say for now!

THE GERMAN ARTISTS ARE AT IT AGAIN…

THE GERMAN ARTISTS ARE AT IT AGAIN
Here are 7 pictures of European trucks whose trailers are decorated to look like the sides are missing and the products they are hauling are painted on the sides and back. The first one is of a bottle of beer and looks so real, like it is coming out the side of the trailer..

The second is of canvas tote bag.

The third is of Pepsi cases and they are all stacked on the ceiling, and the bottom of the trailer is empty.

The fourth is of another truck with the windshield facing the back and there has been a driver painted in the driver’s seat looking back over his shoulder to appear like he is driving backwards. (Now this one is just plain scary, even when the German reads ‘On the wrong way?’)

The fifth one is of an aquarium with fish swimming in it.

The sixth one is of a bookshelf with books lined up in it and a post-it-note with an advertisement on it, probably for the company that sells the books.

The last one is for Pringles-Hot & Spicy. The ‘inside’ of the trailer has the appearance of having been through a fire.
